This week I met with Shawn Van Every and also presented my idea to the xStory group. I got some good references.
I am exploring how the body can be better represented virtually in real-time. I’m interested in live events and in working with the physical body. Currently live virtual representations focus on the face, hands and voice. They leave the user mostly disembodied. Our bodies are an integral part of our experiences and being present in the moment. I am interested in exploring how we can create more truthful representation of ourselves in virtual space, and what might be gained by doing so.
This week I had office hours with Todd to talk about the technical logistics of the project. Jarrett and I also met with Kyla Ernst-Alper, who is interested in helping us develop the project.
Here are Team Brown’s update and answers to feedback for the week.
For our midterm, Team Brown presented Wake for our final project. It’s a virtual reality experience past and presence through the use and manipulation of digital wakes.
This week we created characters for the world we created last week. Here’s what we came up with based on our moodboard.
This week we started working together in our groups. I’m with Mahe and Jarrett in Team Brown. Here’s what we came up with.
This week we are starting to work with Isadora. After completing the Isadora tutorials, we created an Isadora file with four scenes.
This week in Bodies in Motion we are creating a mood board about a world we want to build in UE4 and a character that could live in that world. Then, build a new complete environment with a standard third person character that includes three interactions.
