Recently I used the Twitter streaming API for the first time. I was really impressed watching the flood of live data come in and I’ve been thinking of different applications for it. I also recently learned to hook up Socket.io to Unity. So I’m thinking of having Twitter play a game or create something in Unity.
This week in Sensory Driven Storytelling we are exploring connected spaces by taking input from non-standard sources ( Kinect, Leap, VR, Arduino, Node.js, Web Browser, Ableton Midi etc ). I chose to use Node and Socket.io to input data into Unity.
This weekend I drew and measured several iterations of my clock on paper, cardboard and in Illustrator. I now feel relatively confident about my design, but I have questions on how to translate this to the CNC router.
For my Piecing It Together midterm I am thinking about building a prototype of a clock that my dad has been talking about for a few years.
This week in mapping class we are making our own tiles in mapbox. My map shows tweets that have the word “bowie” as they come in.
This week in Live Web we are using https and webRTC to play with the webcam over a websocket.
This week in Sensory-driven Storytelling we are applying and exploring what we’ve learned in Unity. The assignment is to submit an experiment that uses traditional input (mouse, key) to affect the narrative of your scene using any of the techniques or items learned. Consider how this input might be mapped in the future.
This week in mapping we are creating a map that contains a full story. I chose to map recent statistics on death penalty laws worldwide.
This week in Everything is Physical we continued to work with leaflet.js. The assignment was to add at least one geoJSON layer and at least one marker or pop-up to a map. In addition we were to think about what relationship/story/correlation (or lack thereof) we are trying to show.
